One 7 in. x 5 in. type 1 photograph, affixed to a larger 10 in. x 8 in. sheet. The reverse of the sheet has the stamps of "Culver Pictures, Inc." The photo itself has been glued, but the bottom third is loose, permitting a view of the photograph's verso, where the original photographer is identified as "The Pictorial News Co" (as well as other pencil and pen notations). The front of the sheet reads: "Wilbur Wright giving final instructions to Johnstone before the successful World's Record Flight for Altitude." The picture is presumed to have been taken in October of 1910, as Johnstone set a new American flight altitude record of 8,471 feet on October 27, 1910. He passed away two weeks later, on November 17, 1910, in an air crash. Authentication Certification: PSA/DNA Certification #1P05742. CX consignment. Shelved in Case 0.
