Alain Locke, known as the "Father of the Harlem Renaissance," was a philosopher, theorist, and critic best known for his work on Black literature and art.

Light shelfwear and rubbing overall; light damp staining to upper edge and bottom corners of front board. Text block has light blue tint and damp stain at corner of lower edge and a small stamp to rear free end paper. Ownership signature of Alain Locke, dated 1928, on the front free end paper.
