A Collection of over 120 early photographs, letters, signed photos, and ephemera related to Amelia Earhart. The collection appears to have been assembled by collector Bill Schneider from the 1930s to 1960s and then purchased by William Littlewood in the 1970s. The collection includes 1). A photo of Amelia Earhart in the Beech-Nut initialed by Amelia Earhart, accompanied by an ALS from Bill Schneider to Earhart asking for an autographed photo. The items are in a black plastic frame. 2). Four photos of the Fokker F-7 Friendship signed by Lou Gordon, the mechanic and co-pilot for the 1928 flight in which Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly the Atlantic Ocean. 3). Seven ALS from Lou Gordon to Bill Schneider, dated: 5/1/1934, 8/20/49, 3-18-1951,1/30/1952, 9-5-1955,3/9/1957, and 10/14/1963. 4). A letter signed by Betty Chester (Earhart’s secretary) to Bill Schneider, dated 7/15/1933, with two accompanying Type 1 photos of Earhart arriving after completing the Bendix Race. The items are in a black plastic frame. 5). First flight cover carried by Earhart on her 1935 Hawaii-California flight. With typed notation: “Hawaii-California // This letter Carried By The Kindness Of Miss Amelia Earhart // Bill Schneider Jr., Rahway, New Jersey.” Accompanied by 16 photos produced by Lockheed showing images from Earhart's Hawaii-California flight. 6).First flight cover dated “1937” with text: “Amelia Earhart Completes World Flight.” 7). Cover honoring Amelia Earhart (with U.S. Air Mail stamp), dated 1963, with signature of aviatrix Viola Gentry. 8). 58 photographs, all dating to the 1930s, showing multiple Earhart-flown planes, public events, etc. All photographs are either Type 1 or very early reproductions. 9). Six photos of Earhart's "Trans-Atlantic Lockheed" released by Lockheed. 10). Photograph of Amelia Earhart with Paul Collins, Richard Alsworth, and Gene Vidal. The photo is signed by Paul Collins on the back and is undated. 11). Three signed Type 1 photos of American Aviator Frank Purdy Lahm. 12). Sixteen photos of planes Earhart flew, events Earhart appeared at, etc. similar to those released by Lockheed. 13). Two Type 1 Photos of Lockheed plane emblazoned “Mrs. ?”. 14). Two Ads for Amelia Earhart speech appearance at the Masonic Temple (presumably in Michigan City in 1934). 15). Three ads for covers (1930s). 16). TLS from Bill Schneider to “Captain Blakeman” (presumably F. T. Blakeman), with autograph note at bottom in response. 17). Two page TLS to Bill Schneider from a “Florence” [unidentified].
