Michael Scheffelt was the earliest inventor and maker of logarithmic and other scientific instruments in Germany, with his Proportional-Zirkel being first published in 1697.

Boards show mild wear and rubbing, tail of spine has a later piece of matching paper (presumably as repair), Gothic letter, title printed in red and black.
