The work of the distinguished Italian cartographer Giovanni Antonio Magini (1555-1617), this oval projection draws from the work of another great cartographer, Abraham Ortelius. Most notable are the large landmasses of Terra Incognita and Terra Autralis at both poles. Six wind-heads are arranged above and below the map. Condition: Excellent, with even age toning. Double matted and framed, not examined out of frame. Map measures 7" x 5.25", frame measures 12.75" x 11 1/8". Shelved at Rockville PS1101 (#19).
