Author: Miller, Henry

More Details

Miller’s review of a photographic documentary of the American continent and its denizens by a pair of European travelers. Perhaps typically, Miller names neither the book nor its authors, and he speaks little about the actual contents, hewing instead to Miller country: the photographs are springboards for commentary upon the grandeur of the land, the willful ignorance of the American populace, the egregious mistreatment, marginalization, and misunderstanding of the Indian, the African American, and the “hillbilly and other so-called ‘backward’ people.”

A six-page holograph manuscript by Henry Miller. In Very Good plus condition. Typed on 8.5 in. x 11 in. sheets. Pages slightly age-toned, rust stains from a paperclip on recto of page 1 and verso of page 6, signed and dated on the final page. CX Consignment. Shelved Case 0.
