Wise II pages 4-8: "Cantos vi to xvi were published by John Hunt in three sizes; Large Paper...Small Paper...and a 'Common' edition (18mo.) price 1s. per Vol. These last, the publisher stated in his advertisements, were printed "to prevent piracy."

Don Juan, Byron's satirical, epic poem, was originally published in 6 volumes. Cantos I and II were published on 15 July 1819, and cantos III, IV, and V were published on 8 August 1821. John Hunt was the official publisher from Canto VI-XVI. Canto XVII was never finished.

18mo., Seven parts. In Very Good condition. Bound in full calf, boards diced with gilt floral roll, nicely rebacked with paneled spine, black label with gilt titling. Some wear to boards. Bookplate of Anne Margaret Drummond to the front pastedown. Light foxing and toning throughout.
