More Details
A representative, though incomplete, Arabic grammatical manuscript of Persian origin, giving examples of Arabic grammar rules conjugating the masdar or root nasara (to help, to render victorious). An unidentified reader has added marginal annotations in Persian to the first and last pages.
Small Octavo, 16 leaves. In Good condition. Red morocco binding by Riveire and Sons, with "Persian Manuscript" in small gilt lettering on spine. Printed in rounded naskh hand on polished paper. Binding has some edge wear, light bumping to corners, and the leather is cracked along front joint. Leaves are damp-stained, with some loss of border rules and minor blurring and loss of text (mostly to preliminary leaves). Old paper repair to border rules, with some marginal annotations and notes in a later Persian hand appearing on first and last pages. Persian and undated, though likely 19th century. Three-columned tables are headed in red script with gilt rule borders, nine to fifteen featuring fine script. Incomplete. TH Consignment. Shelved in Case 3.
